Ultra Stains have been selected for being the best quality glaze stains available anywhere in the world. Sourced from a number of different manufacturers they are tested to ensure each batch meets a quality standard. Independent laboratory tests are carried out at random on the stains to test for lead content and cadmium release.

All of the cadmium stains are of the zirconium encapsulated type. Ball milling of these stains should be avoided to prevent damage to the zirconium layer exposing the cadmium. Typically these stains only need a few minutes for full dispersion to be achieved.

These stains may be used in the manufacture of glazes and underglazes for use on various ceramic and clay bodies fired at temperatures between 1000 and 1300^oC (cone 06-10) in most cases.
